The US version of Whose Line is it Anyway?

South African pay TV broadcaster Mnet and Comedy Channel in Australia are among those to have picked up the US version of a classic comedy format from distributor Hat Trick International.

The UK-based sales house has been shopping the the new season of The CW’s Whose Line is it Anyway?, the US adaptation of the classic unscripted comedy format, internationally.

Hat Trick has also confirmed international acquisitions of the new 12-episode season by Viacom 18 India and MTG Norway.

The show is based on the original Hat Trick Productions format that was created and produced by Dan Patterson and Mark Leveson for Channel 4, on which it aired for 10 years.

Angst Productions and Hat Trick US produce the US version of the comedy improvisation show, which features both new and original game segments.

The Whose Line is it Anyway? format has now been remade and/or optioned in 13 countries, including Finland, the Netherlands and Vietnam.

A 10-episode Australian version also recently launched, produced by Guesswork Television and +61 TV for Foxtel’s Comedy Channel, which Hat Trick will also distribute.
