Hat Trick builds Rich House Poor House

UK distributor Hat Trick International (HTI) is heading to MipTV with a format in which two families from opposite ends of the wealth divide trade places in a bid to find out whether money really does buy happiness.

The UK version of Cheap Cheap Cheap will be fronted by Noel Edmunds

Rich House Poor House will see one family from the richest 10% of the nation and another from the poorest 10% swap homes, budgets and lives for seven days.

The format was originally produced by Hat Trick Productions for Channel 5 in the UK.

Also on HTI’s slate is Cheap Cheap Cheap, the UK version of which will be fronted by Deal Or No Deal host Noel Edmonds and will air on Channel 4.

The show takes place in a fictional convenience store and centres around a gameshow in which the shop owner invites pairs of contestants to win an increasing amount of money by correctly picking the cheapest of three similar items.

HTI will also shop the reality format How to Live Mortgage Free, which sees a team of property experts meet people self-building unconventional homes in an effort to be mortgage- and rent-free. The show is produced by Plum Pictures for Channel 4 in the UK.
