Hasler named Original president

FremantleMedia-owned US prodco Original Productions has hired a veteran executive from National Geographic Studios as its new president.

Jeff Hasler

Jeff Hasler will supervise and lead all development, production, business and strategic aspects of the company.

There he oversaw original non-scripted television, feature docs and other projects, including the acclaimed documentary Jane, directed by Brett Morgen.

Previously, Hasler spent nearly five years as senior VP of development and production for Discovery Channel. His slate there included Original Productions’ hit Deadliest Catch.

Prior to that he was director of programming at A&E, overseeing non-fiction and reality series including Biography and the initial development of Gene Simmons Family Jewels.

He spent his early years writing, directing and producing series for Bravo (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy), TLC, The History Channel, VH1, PBS and Food Network, and served as coproducer of the Showtime original film Walter & Henry.
