Gurin’s First And Last gains global interest

LA-based producer The Gurin Company has agreed a number of options for its format First And Last, including Australia and New Zealand.

Channel Nine Australia has optioned the format, along with New Zealand’s Eyeworks, Greece’s Big Sun and Creative Media in the Netherlands and Belgium.

The show’s pilot was produced and directed by Oscar winner June Beallor (The Last Days) for US cable network TNT.

First And Last follows a person doing something for the first time -such as a doctor performing her first surgery – and someone doing something for the last time – such as a sports coach working with a team during a final season.

“The fact that First And Last is resonating in so many different countries and for such a variety of cultures underscores the value of creating world-centric content,” Gurin said. “The appeal for First And Last lies in the authenticity of the characters and storytelling that can translate into any culture or territory.”

Other formats The Gurin Company has introduced to the international market include The Singing Bee, which has just debuted on CMT and currently airs in 26 countries.
