Gurin revives classic gameshows

The Gurin Company has picked up two classic gameshow formats with the hope of reviving them at Mipcom next week.

Truth or Consequences and Treasure Hunt have both been added to the US format specialist’s slate.

Truth or Consequences, a variety gameshow that puts people in absurd situations, originally aired on CBS and NBC. The format will be available in the US and Canada after Gurin picked up the rights from Ralph Edwards Productions. The show was originally aired on radio in 1939 and was Bob Barker’s first TV show in 1956.

Treasure Hunt, in which teams select treasure chests with surprises inside while hunting for prizes, is available in all territories. Wink Martindale, Mark Maxwell-Smith and John Ricci Jr have been working with The Gurin Company to create a new version.

In addition, Cleverdicks, which aired on Sky Atlantic in the UK, is being distributed internationally by Gurin.
