GSN orders more Minute to Win It

US cablenet GSN has commissioned 40 original episodes of one of its most popular shows from Shine America.

Minute to Win It first appeared in the US on NBC in 2010 and those 69 episodes began airing on GSN from July last year.

GSN, owned by DirecTV and Sony Pictures Entertainment, is now set to produce original episodes of its own to air at the end of 2013 – the first time the series has been developed by a US cable network.

The format was first developed by Shine-owned Swedish prodco Friday TV and sees contestants faced with 10-minute challenges of increasing difficulty involving household items. Players must decide whether to walk away with the money they’ve already won or keep playing in the hope of winning a US$100,000 jackpot.
