Globosat hires for int’l expansion

Brazilian broadcast giant Globosat has brought back former exec Marcelo Spinola as its director of international channels.

Spinola will be responsible for Globosat’s international channels expansion, developing and seeking opportunities for the pay TV firm outside Brazil.

He returns to the company he first joined in 2000 following a stint as director of TV Globo Internacional, where he was in charge of expanding its base of operators and subscribers worldwide.

During his previous spell at Globosat, he participated in the launching of channels including USA (now Universal Channel), Canal Brasil and Premiere, as well as Globosat channels in Portugal.

Alberto Pecegueiro, general director at Globosat, said: “Marcelo Spinola is ideally suited to contribute to the expansion of our business outside the country, not only because he has participated in this work in previous years but because he also brings the knowledge acquired in the expansion of the Globo International channel.”
