The sales arm of Brazilian broadcaster Globo has expanded the role of its exec director of international business Raphael Corrêa Neto ahead of the retirement of its business director.

Corrêa Neto, who has been with Globo Internacional for more than 15 years, will take over Ricardo Scalamandré’s responsibilities.

He will oversee deals for international shows and content, manage Globo’s network operation and business models globally, and uncover new partnerships and develop international coproductions.

Globo’s international arm has licensed more than 130 titles into 170 countries and has launched seven pay TV channels across five continents.

In 2016, it released Supermax, its first original production developed exclusively for the Ibero-American market.

The show is being directed by Daniel Burman and coproduced by companies including Mediaset (Spain), TV Azteca (Mexico) and TVP (Argentina). Corrêa Neto is at Natpe in Miami this week and will appear on the panel Content Twists in Latin America to discuss the challenges of producing the show.

During his time with Globo Internacional, Scalamandré launched the company’s first channel outside of Brazil and expanded its drama licensing strategy.

“His invaluable contribution and expertise have helped us develop the international television market, and our doors will always be open for new partnership projects in the future,” said Willy Haas, Globo’s business director.

Globo Internacional’s slate for Natpe includes dramas Time After Time, Rising Sun (working title), Total Dreamer and Burning Hearts.
