Globo mines Imira for preschool

Giggle Garage’s Cam & Leon

Brazilian broadcaster Globo has stocked up on programming from Spain’s Imira Entertainment ahead of the launch of its preschool channel.

Hogie the Globehopper (52×11′), produced by Malaysia’s Lil Critter Workshop, and YoYo (52×7′), from Italy’s Showlab, have been acquired from Imira ahead of the launch of Gloobinho later this year.

The distribution deals are two of many the sales arm of the Spanish firm has struck ahead of MipJunior and Mipcom later this month.

These including Netflix taking Bat Pat (52×11′) for its subscription service in Spain and Latin America, excluding Brazil.

The spooky adventure comedy is a coproduction between Imira, Spanish broadcaster TVE and Italy’s Atlantyca Entertainment, Rai Fiction and Mondo TV.

Meanwhile, Germany’s Super RTL has acquired the second season of Lucky Fred (52×12′), which is currently in production with Telegael in Ireland, Imira and the latter’s parent company Toonz Media Group.

Elsewhere, Telecom Italia has picked up the first three seasons of Korean Tuba’s animated series Larva for its Tim channel.

Among the titles Imira will be bringing to Mipcom later this month are Zelly Go (104×1’30”) from Dream Factory Studio, Giggle Garage’s Cam & Leon, Darwin & Newts (40×11′), Smighties (78×7′), Sindbad and the 7 Galaxies (26×11′) and Badanamu Cadets (52×11′) from LA and Seoul-based Calm Island.
