German net gets festive

A German broadcaster has picked up the sequel to Spike, the animated Christmas special coproduced by The Jungle Bunch producer Tat Productions in France.

Pubcaster-backed Kika will air Spike 2 (1×35′) later this year, having licensed the show from distributor PGS Entertainment. The channel aired the first special during Christmas 2009.

The sequel, which again follows the adventures of a courageous elf, was commissioned by France Télévisions, Télétoon and Canal+ Family, following the success of the first Spike movie and shorts in 2008, also coproduced by Tat alongside Master Films.

Spike 2 has also been picked up by Rai (Italy), RTBF (French-speaking Belgium), VRT (Flemish-speaking Belgium), RTS (French-speaking Switzerland), LRT (Lithuania) and NRK (Norway), among others.
