Gédéon acquires doc prodco MC4

Paris-based factual producer Gédéon Programmes has acquired Volcano Hunters maker MC4 Productions.

Founded 30 years ago by Jean-Pierre Bailly, MC4 produces discovery programming and adventure shows such as the recent Volcano Hunters (6×52’) for Voyage and RMC Découvertes, together with Lagardere Studio Distribution.

It is also behind some historical programmes, such as international copro Operation D-Day, and is active in theatrical documentaries.

Bailly, who had been looking for a buyer for the firm, will remain at the helm.

The acquisition of MC4 reinforces Gédéon Programmes nature and discovery offering, genres in which Gédéon is already active. It is currently covering the Solar Impulse solar-powered aircraft expedition.
