FX returns to Fargo

US cablenet FX has commissioned a second season of crime drama Fargo, its spin-off from the award-winning Cohen brothers feature film.

The 10 new episodes will feature a new cast of characters and will be set in a different time period, FX revealed at the Television Critics’ Association summer press tour yesterday.

Fargo’s first season, which aired internationally on channels such as Channel 4 in the UK and SBS in Australia, was produced by MGM Television and FX Productions and starred Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton.

Meanwhile, FX has renewed Louie, the cult comedy drama written by and starring New York City-based comedian Louis CK, for a seven-episode fifth season that will debut in spring 2015.

The scripted series follows the divorced stand-up as he juggles his successful comedy career with his responsibilities helping to raise his two daughters.
