FX lines up cocaine drama

US cablenet FX has ordered a drama series inspired by the early days of the crack cocaine epidemic in LA in the early 1980s.

Snowfall (10×60′) is being produced by FX Productions and will debut on the network in 2017.

It follows characters including a young street entrepreneur on a quest for power, a Mexican wrestler caught up in a struggle within a crime family and the daughter of a Mexican crime lord who are all on a violent collision course with each other.

It will be executive produced by Dave Andron (Justified), Thomas Schlamme (The West Wing), John Singleton (Boyz n the Hood), Eric Amadio (After Sex), Michael London (Sideways) and Trevor Engelson (Remember Me).

The pilot episode was written by Singleton, Amadio and Andron and directed by the Belgian directing team of Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.
