Fuji TV prodco hunts coproductions

A production company recently acquired by Japanese broadcaster Fuji Television Network (FTN) is heading to Mipcom this month looking for coproduction deals with high merchandising potential.

David Production became a subsidiary of FTN in August this year and the broadcaster says the acquisition is part of a wider strategy to make animation “a vital pillar” of business.

Founded in 2007, David Production has been behind a Baby Superman short with Warner Bros Animation and has also worked on series such as JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Hyperdimension Neptunia, The Book of Bantorra, and Dogs: Bullets & Carnage.

During Mipcom, the studio is interested in meeting international partners to embark on new coproduction projects, including in gaming and toy development.
