Fremantle puts content into BritBox

US subscription VoD service BritBox has closed its first third-party content deal, which will make programming from FremantleMedia International available starting this month.

Shows including QI, Escape to the Country and Merlin will air in the NOW category on the service, which is a joint venture from BBC Worldwide and UK broadcaster ITV.

The first episode of QI’s latest season and all episodes of the previous run will join BritBox on October 20, while subsequent new episodes will be added each week. In the panel show, contestants are rewarded more for interesting answers than accurate ones.

Factual property series Escape to the Country, which is about to begin its 25th season, comprises 70 hour-long episodes. The series travels the UK and helps house buyers who want to escape town or city living to find their ideal home.

Arthurian fantasy drama Merlin and new docu-drama Against the Law (1×90’), which follows one of the UK’s most explosive court cases of the 1950s, will also join BritBox’s line-up.

The SVoD service launched earlier this year and offers the largest collection of streamed UK programming in the US.
