Fremantle has 1001 Things for MipTV

MIPTV: FremantleMedia is here in Cannes with a format slate headlined by a new gameshow in which celebrities ask the questions.

1001 Things You Should Know is a general knowledge quiz in which contestants must answer a question that should be common knowledge before they have a chance to answer harder questions for cash. “It puts a bit of glamour into the daytime schedule,” said Trish Kinane, president of worldwide entertainment at RTL-owned FremantleMedia.

C21 understands FremantleMedia UK subsidiary Thames TV has produced pilot of 1001 Things that will air on pubcaster Channel 4, with sports pundit John McCririck and DJ Sara Cox attached.

Elsewhere on the bill is Recipe to Riches, a cooking competition from Temple Street Productions, which currently airs on Canada’s Food Network. Also at MipTV is Hidden Talent, which sees ordinary members of the public scientifically tested to see whether they have life-changing skills. It will air on Channel 4 in the UK later this month.

The new slate was unveiled as TV4 in Sweden and Rustavi2 in Georgia became the latest broadcasters to acquire Fremantle and Syco reality format The X Factor. The show now airs in 40 territories worldwide.
