Fremantle, Arrow unveil Hitler’s story

MIPCOM: FremantleMedia International (FMI) has picked up distribution rights outside North America and UK to Arrow Media’s new documentary series Hitler: The Biography.

Chronicling the Nazi dictator from childhood to his downfall, the six-part series features newly unearthed archive materials, declassified documents and new CGI techniques to tell his life story.

Discovery Communications-owned American Heroes Channel in North America and an unnamed UK broadcaster recently commissioned the series.

“What initially attracted us to the project was Arrow Media’s unrivalled approach to recounting Hitler’s life and the new storytelling techniques used across the series to show the evolution of man to monster,” said Angela Neillis, director of non scripted, UK, EMEA and Asia Pacific at FMI.

“Hitler was one of the most vilified and also fascinating figures of the 20th century and this new material helps to offer some further insights into the man and the circumstances that led to one of the deadliest conflicts in human history.”

Hitler: The Biography (working title) was commissioned by Winona Meringolo and Brent Hatherill for American Heroes Channel. Ash Potterton is the executive producer for Arrow Media.

FremantleMedia yesterday continued the expansion of its global scripted presence by taking a majority stake in French producer Kwai.
