The Bold Type (fka Issues), a Universal Television and The District production, will premiere this summer.

The show follows the outrageous lives and loves of those responsible for global women’s magazine Scarlet as they explore sexuality, identity, love and fashion.

Freeform has also ordered a second season of Beyond, its one-hour drama about a young man who wakes up from a coma after 12 years and discovers new supernatural abilities that propel him into a dangerous conspiracy.

The series comes from Imperative Entertainment and Automatik. It was created, written and executive produced by Adam Nussdorf and is exec produced by Tim Kring (Heroes), David Eick, Steven Adelson, Dan Friedkin, Justin Levy and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones.

Elsewhere, Freeform has greenlit a fifth season of drama The Fosters, which will bring the show to a landmark 100 episodes.

The series is produced by Nuyorican Productions in association with Freeform and is about a multi-ethnic family of foster and biological kids being raised by two mothers.

It is exec-produced by singer-actress Jennifer Lopez and created by Bradley Bredeweg and Peter Paige (Queer As Folk), who also serve as showrunners, writers and executive producers.

Freeform was formerly known as ABC Family before being rebranded. https://www.c21media.net/abc-family-to-rebrand/
