Freeform kills Dead of Summer

Disney-owned network Freeform has cancelled its first ever horror series Dead of Summer after one season.

The show, ordered last year ahead of ABC Family’s rebrand to Freeform, is set in a doomed summer camp in the late 1980s.

The programme marked the first time the network had dipped its toe into the horror genre. However, it failed to garner strong ratings and now joins fellow summer debutant Guilt in being cancelled after one run.

ABC Signature Studios produced the series, while Adam Horowitz, Edward Kitsis and Ian Goldberg were writers and executive producers.
