Freeform falls for Famous in Love

US cable network Freeform, formerly known as ABC Family, has begun production in LA on a soap-style drama about the dark side of fame.

Based on the novel of the same name by Rebecca Serle, Famous in Love follows an ordinary college student as she gets her big break after auditioning for the starring role in a Hollywood blockbuster.

The series is produced by Long Lake Media, Farah Films and Carmina Productions in association with Warner Horizon Television. The network ordered a pilot of the show last year.

It sees Freeform continue to grow its slate of original programming following its rebrand from ABC Family at the beginning of this year.

Last month it commissioned a spin-off to The Bachelor that follows the reality show’s most recently engaged couple as they prepare to walk down the aisle.
