Frankenstein brought to life in France

French pay TV platform Canal+ has acquired The Frankenstein Chronicles, a drama series currently in production for UK commercial broadcaster ITV.

Endemol Shine International, the distribution arm of Endemol Shine Group, is selling the 6×60’ series, which was produced by Rainmark Films in association with Far Moor.

It stars Sean Bean and Ed Stoppard and is set in 1827 when the Thames River Police discover what they believe is a child’s corpse, which turns out to be a grotesque assembly of human body parts. The series then follows the hunt for the killer.

Emmy-nominated director and writer Benjamin Ross (The Young Poisoner’s Handbook) and writer Barry Langford (Torte Bluma) have created the series. Tracey Scoffield, Frank Doelger, Justin Thomson-Glover and Patrick Irwin are executive producing.

The show is due to premiere later this year in the UK.
