France TV preps for ZDF’s Apocalypse

Apocalypse Neanderthal uses recent discoveries to examine the species’ extinction

France Télévisions has acquired a number of shows from Germany’s ZDF Enterprises, including Apocalypse Neanderthal and a climate documentary series.

Apocalypse Neanderthal (2×50’) is produced by Germany-based Story House Productions and C-Tales Entertainment in association with ZDF Enterprises and History.

It investigates why Neanderthals became extinct and the findings of recent genetic and archaeological discoveries that suggest they were cultured and more technologically savvy that previously thought.

The French pubcaster has also bought Story House’s How Climate Made History (2×50’), which takes a fresh look at human history in the light of Earth’s volatile climate; The Ascent of Civilization (3×50’), produced by Gruppe 5 Filmproduktion; and ZDF’s German-Polish two-parter The Invasion: The Outbreak of World War II (2×50’).
