France gets taste for British Menu

A commercial broadcaster in France has ordered a local remake of Optomen Television’s format Great British Menu, which is in its ninth season on BBC2 in the UK.

TF1 will air the French version of the long-running culinary competition series, which will be coproduced by Paris–based Pernel Media alongside TF1 Productions.

The daily access primetime format sees the nation’s top chefs battle it out for the honour of cooking a banquet menu for a special occasion.

Pernel Media, the French indie established by Samuel Kissous in 2009, has previously produced local adaptations of formats such as Cash Cab, Dinner Date and Balls of Steel.

Great British Menu is distributed worldwide by All3Media-owned Optomen International and has previously been remade in the Netherlands for SBS6.
