France 5 reels in tuna doc

Pubcaster France Télévisions has commissioned Paris-based Pernel Media to produce a documentary about tuna fishing and another about iconic Parisian street the Champs Elysées.

France 5 will air the two one-offs, which come after Pernel Media recently produced primetime docs Fontainebleau Castle and Secrets of the French Bakery Industry for the channel.

Tuna: What’s In the Can? delves into the world of tuna fishing to reveal the fish’s journey from sea to plate and was shot in France, Brussels and the Seychelles.

Champs Elysées: The Most Beautiful Avenue In the World, meanwhile, explores the secrets of the boulevard, which is visited by more than 100 million people each year. It meets the companies and characters that have made the Champs Elysées their home and looks at how it has changed over the centuries.

Both programmes will air in consecutive weeks in December. Céline Gandner is the commissioner for France 5 and the executive producer for Pernel Media is Samuel Kissous.
