France 2 puts on 5 Gold Rings

MIPTV: France’s flagship public channel France 2 is to air a local version of Talpa Global gameshow 5 Gold Rings.

5 Gold Rings has already launched on the Netherlands’ SBS6 and on ITV the UK, with the former signing up to a second season. Earlier this year, NBC picked up format rights for a pilot produced by ITV Entertainment.

The local French version, 5 Anneaux d’Or, which is currently in pre-production for an end-of-summer launch, will air on France 2 on Saturdays.

The gameshow, which was co-created by ITV Studios-owned prodcos Possessed and Talpa, will be produced for the French pubcaster by ITV Studios France.

It sees players answer questions by placing rings of different sizes on an interactive LED screen, while viewers at home can play along via their mobile phones.

Talpa Global launched the show internationally at Mipcom last October. The company announced today that it has also sealed a deal for the show with Channel 10 in Israel.
