France 2, Elephant get funny again

France 2 has commissioned a family comedy drama to replace its concluded series Fait Pas Ci, Fait Pas Ca (aka Desperate Parents) from local indie Elephant.

J’ai 10 Ans (I am 10 Years Old) will launch on the pubcaster this year and comes from writers Diane Clavier and Samantha Mazeras, who want to reflect the realities of family life in modern France.

The series focuses on three different families, including an immigrant Chinese family who have recently arrived in France, who are thrown together because each has a 10-year-old child in the same primary school class.

The series will launch with a 90-minute special, followed by a 6×52′ series currently in development.

The show is intended to replace Desperate Parents, which was also produced by Elephant. It ran for nine seasons and totalled more than 70 episodes before ending in January 2017. The series was also sold into more than 20 countries, according to Elephant, which currently holds distribution rights J’ai 10 Ans.

Elephant’s drama activities are led by Gaelle Cholet and Guillaume Renouil, under the leadership of co-CEOs Thierry Bizot and Emmanuel Chain, who co-founded the company in 1999.

The firm is part of iZen Group, which also includes Chalkboard TV in the UK, Imagic in the Middle East and Zebra in Spain.
