Foxtel calls in Sony’s SWAT

SWAT stars Shemar Moore

Australian pay TV platform Foxtel has acquired the rights to US crime drama SWAT from international distributor Sony Pictures Television (SPT).

The show, a reboot of the 1970s series of the same name, premiered in the US on CBS this month and will begin airing on Fox8 in January.

It follows Shemar Moore (Criminal Minds), a cop torn between loyalty to where he was raised and his fellow officers in LA.

The show is produced by MiddKid Productions, Original Film, Perfect Storm Entertainment and Wyandotte Entertainment in association with CBS Television Studios and SPT.

“SWAT will be launching in Australia in the centre of a schedule packed with some of the most popular dramas on Fox8 including Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and DC Legends of Tomorrow,” said Foxtel Networks director of channels Stephen Baldwin.
