Fox worships Mammon format

Norwegian broadcaster NRK has sold its first scripted format into the US before the original has aired.

20th Century Fox TV has picked up the format to thriller series Mammon, which is due to premiere on NRK in January and has already been commissioned for a second season. It is produced by the Norwegian broadcaster’s in-house drama team.

The US version, in which two brothers compete in the worlds of politics and finance, is being produced by Chernin Entertainment, with Peter Chernin and Katherine Pope exec producing. DRG is handling distribution.

NRK has also renewed its first-look agreement with the international distributor, which was originally signed in March 2011 and covers all non-scripted formats.

Anke Stoll, head of drama at DRG, said: “We have seen an increase in demand for Scandinavian formats recently. This is the 10th scripted format we have sold into the US but the first from our partnership with NRK.”
