Utopia has aired on both Tuesday and Friday evenings in the US since launching on September 7 but has struggled in the ratings.

Reruns of new episodes of Family Guy, The Simpsons and Bob’s Burgers will air in Utopia’s place on Tuesday evenings for the next two weeks, followed by Fox Sports programming, until MasterChef Junior’s season premiere on November 4.

The culinary competition series gives talented kids between the ages of eight and 13 the chance to showcase their culinary abilities and passion for food through a series of challenges.

Utopia, which was picked up by Fox in January and is produced by Talpa Media USA, will continue to air on Fridays.

The format sees a group of everyday people move to an isolated, undeveloped location before they are left for a year, challenged with creating their own civilization.

The series was created and is exec produced by John de Mol (Big Brother, Deal or no Deal, The Voice, Fear Factor) and is based on the hit Dutch series of the same name that premiered on SBS6 in the Netherlands at the beginning of the year.
