Fox picks up Armoza’s Four

Armoza’s The Final Four

The Fox network in the US has greenlit a new talent show based on the Israeli format The Final Four, from Armoza Formats.

The US version, titled The Four, will be produced by ITV Entertainment in association with Armoza Formats. David George, Adam Sher, David Eilenberg, Jessica Sebastian-Dayeh, Simon Thomas, Becca Walker, David Friedman, Avi Armoza and Nehama Cohen will exec produce.

The deal was announced today by Dana Walden and Gary Newman, chairmen and CEOs at Fox Television Group, as part of the company’s TCA presentation in Pasadena, California.

Fox is expected to use the singing competition to combat the arrival of one of its former shows, American Idol, on ABC next season. Fox dropped the format last year, only for it to be snapped up by the rival network.

The Final Four format was developed at Armoza’s in-house team, which includes Nehama Cohen, Elwin Vizetelly de Groot and Moshiko Cohen, and was launched to the global market at MipTV this year. It has since found several international buyers.

French production company Satisfaction quickly picked up the rights for France, while Banijay Zodiak Nordic also took the rights for local versions in Norway and Denmark. Banijay-owned production outfits in Italy and Spain later picked up the format.

However, the format has yet to be produced anywhere.

“The Final Four is a new take on the singing competition genre, bringing all the most loved elements of music shows to the table and serving only the best of them in a way that has never been seen before,” said Armoza back in March.

Speaking to C21 today, he added: “It was quite a challenge to get into the music space. We appreciate the vote of confidence from Fox and our other international clients.”

The Final Four is a shiny-floor studio entertainment format that sees the final contestants revealed in the show’s first episode. The singers must continue to impress a panel of judges to ensure they retain their place in the final four and other contestants can challenge the four by applying via an app throughout the season.
