Fox leaves Gracepoint

US network Fox has cancelled its version of UK crime drama Broadchurch after just one season.

Gracepoint was a 10-part version of the ITV hit and starred David Tennant (Doctor Who), reprising his role from the UK original, and Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad).

The series, which focuses on the investigation of the murder of a young boy, was made by Shine America, Kudos Film & TV and Imaginary Friends, and made its debut on Fox in October.

It has since sold to several international broadcasters including Spanish pay TV operator Telefónica, Canada’s Global TV and Foxtel’s Universal Channel in the US.

The drama received low ratings on its Thursday night slot, with last week’s finale delivering four million viewers. It also received criticism for being an almost shot-for-shot remake of the UK original, which runs for a second season on ITV in January.

Fox, which had always billed the show as a limited series, has also axed Red Band Society and Utopia so far this year.
