Fox gets Caught in Providence

Judge Frank Caprio already has a social media following

Fox Television Stations has acquired a syndicated US court show filmed in the courtroom of a judge with a large following on social media.

Fox will begin airing Caught in Providence on its networks in New York, LA, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, San Francisco, Washington DC, Phoenix, Orlando, Minneapolis and Charlotte from fall 2018.

The series, which is coproduced by Debmar-Mercury and Citylife Productions, features Judge Frank Caprio ruling on minor criminal offences from his courtroom in Providence, Rhode Island.

Viral videos of Caprio doling out his distinctive brand of compassionate justice have attracted more than one billion views online, according to Debmar-Mercury.

“We love Judge Caprio’s heartfelt take on justice and think Caught in Providence will truly stand out from every other show on daytime television,” said Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein, co-presidents of Lionsgate-owned Debmar-Mercury, in a joint statement.

“In these contentious times, many viewers are simply looking for something light-hearted and fun. Caught in Providence has proven to be exactly that, and has an unprecedented social media following to prove it,” added Marcus and Bernstein.
