Fox and Leftfield settle reality suit

US cablenet Fox Business and ITV-owned production outfit Leftfield Pictures have settled their legal battle over a failed reality show.

Fox ordered 26 episodes of the untitled show, which was to explore real-estate professionals, before pulling out three months later.

Leftfield filed its complaint in New York last year, claiming the show had already begun production when the US network decided to withdraw from the project.

wild_thingsFox, meanwhile, said the show did not accurately reflect its participants and added that the US producer had been late in delivering the first six episodes.

The Pawn Stars producer is reported to have been seeking US$4.5m in damages after the show failed to make it off the ground.

In a joint statement, the duo said an “amicable and confidential settlement” had been reached, adding: “No party has admitted any wrongdoing or liability and there has not been any court finding as to the merits of the lawsuit. The parties have also agreed not to make any additional comments about the terms of the settlement.”

It added that Leftfield and Fox News “hope to work together in the future.”
