Fox 21, Fox TV Studios merge

Fox TV Studios and Fox 21 have combined to form Fox 21 Television Studios, with Fox 21 president Bert Salke appointed to lead the new entity.

The LA-based unit will develop and produce scripted and unscripted projects for all distribution platforms, with a portfolio of 20 cable series and pilots – 10 coming from each side.

Mark Pearson, 20th Century Fox Television’s exec VP of brand management and digital strategy, will assist Salke – now president of the new division – and together they will integrate the teams and create a business strategy.

The move is part of a series of restructures made by newly appointed Fox TV Group chairmen and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman, to whom Salke will continue to report.

They said the idea for the latest move was sparked when they appointed David Madden, formerly president of the Fox TV Studios, as president of entertainment for Fox Broadcast Co (FBC) in August.

“The executive talent at Fox 21 and Fox TV Studios is extraordinary and we realised that with David Madden’s move to FBC, we had a fantastic opportunity to combine these two groups into a single, more powerful organisation,” said Walden and Newman in a statement.
