Format Fund heads to Cannes

MIPFORMATS: Israel’s TV Format Fund has invested in a host of formats ahead of MipTV and is preparing to launch its slate in Cannes.

Among the fund’s investments – totalling around US$1.2m – are three new shows and five existing formats.

The new formats backed by the fund’s investment featuring at MipTV are led by Sofa Survivors from CreateIt Studio and Shy Barmeli. The social experiment places people in an isolated room with only a computer for company for a whole month, and watches how they interact with the outside world.

High Rise Love from Artza Productions, Shai Eines and Dafna Prenner is a dating show where the host tries to match those looking for love with other singletons who work in the same office block.

Finally, comedy format I Spy from Studio Glam explores whether everyday people could become spies using hidden cameras.

The five existing formats are docu-reality programmes Couch Diaries, Gran Plan, How To Be, and Guys in Disguise, as well as the drama series Street Justice. All hail from Artza Productions.

TV Format Fund was launched last year by entrepreneur Alon Dolev and Rubicon Business Group to finance and develop internationally focused TV formats.
