Food Network UK goes 24/7 on Freeview

Food Network in the UK is to expand its broadcasting hours from four a day to a full 24-hour schedule on DTT platform Freeview.

The free-to-air, Scripps Networks Interactive-owned lifestyle channel will begin airing programming all day, every day from July 20 via Freeview in the UK. The net has been 24/7 on Sky and Freesat since launch.

According to figures released by Food Network UK, the channel has been sampled by 11 million individuals with 3.3 million of them watching each month since it launched on Freeview last year.

So far, the network has commissioned original series including Andy Bates Street Feasts starring Andy Bates, and Reza Spice Prince of India featuring Reza Mahammad. It has also commissioned South African chef Jenny Morris for Jenny Morris Cooks Morocco.

The channel’s head of commissioning and original content Sue Walton has recently said she hopes to order more original programming from outside the US in the future.
