First original scripted series for Blue Ant

Gary & His Demons

Canadian distributor Blue Ant International has unveiled a new slate of programming headlined by the Toronto company’s first original scripted series.

Gary & His Demons (8×30’/16×11’) is an animated original show from the firm’s newly expanded scripted and digital studios arm. The comedy is aimed at adults and follows an aging demon-slayer. It comes from Look Mom! Productions.

Family of Champions (5×10’), meanwhile, is a coproduction between Blue Ant Digital Studios and Omnia Media’s Arcade Cloud that initially launched on Facebook Watch. It is another addition to the Blue Ant slate from the scripted and studios division.

“We’ve ramped up our investments in premium content while also diversifying into new genres. Our goal is to broaden our offering for top-tier international buyers seeking a wide range of fresh and distinct programming,” said Solange Attwood, exec VP at Blue Ant International.

New factual entertainment titles include The Weather Files (8×60’), produced by Blue Ant Media Productions; season four of supernatural series Paranormal Survivor (10×60’); and the latest spin-off from The Brojects franchise, Brojects: Built for the Weekend (6×30’), coproduced for Discovery and Canada’s Cottage Life channel. Best Cake Wins (10×30’) and format Lakefront Luxury (10×30’), an original series for Cottage Life, are also in the new factual entertainment offering.

Blue Ant has also launched two premium titles to its documentaries category. The First World War: The People’s Story (3×60’) was commissioned by the BBC and produced by Testimony Films; and I Am War (1×60’) from Northern Sky Entertainment was created for History Channel.

The third season of Africa’s Hunters (6×48’) is joining the distributor’s nature and wildlife catalogue. The series was first introduced by Love Nature and its 4K natural history production project with Plimsoll Productions: Camp Zambia.

Monkey Island (3×60’) and Hope for Wildlife (26×30’/13×60’/78×60′) have also joined the Blue Ant documentary line-up.
