Fine Brothers finds Above Average chief

US digital studio Fine Brothers Entertainment (FBE) has appointed the former chief of digital comedy studio Above Average as its new CEO.

Marc Hustvedt

Marc Hustvedt joins to lead the expanding next-gen media company into its next phase: launching networks for digital-first audiences centred around engaged communities.

He will also be responsible for forging strategic partnerships to boost FBE’s growth and add to its content slate for digital and traditional platforms. Hustvedt replaces co-founder Rafi Fine, who becomes president of the company.

Prior to helming Broadway Video-owned Above Average, Hustvedt was founder and CEO of Supergravity Pictures, a digital-first entertainment studio that was later acquired by independent global studio Gunpowder & Sky. He will lead FBE from its LA headquarters.

Set up by Fine and his brother Benny, chief operating officer, in 2004, FBE was one of the pioneering production companies in the digital space. It currently has 15 serialised shows running every week on its owned-and-operated digital channels, reaching more than 30 million subscribers and racking up 250 million monthly views.

It has also sold 15 scripted and unscripted series to television and premium SVoD services. In June, the firm agreed development and coproduction partnerships with unscripted-focused companies Kinetic Content, NCredible Entertainment and Sonar Entertainment.
