Films Transit to show The Way Out

The Way Out airs this month on CBC

Canadian distributor Films Transit International has acquired global sales rights to a documentary that follows a Montreal mother who embarks on a journey to rescue her daughter after she marries a member of ISIS.

The Way Out, produced by Canuck prodco 52 Media in association with pubcaster CBC, was written and directed by Michelle Shephard (Guantanamo’s Child: Omar Khadr) and David York of 52 Media, who produces alongside Bryn Hughes.

The show will have its broadcast premiere on Sunday January 21 on CBC’s documentary strand DOCS POV at 21.00.

The Way Out claims to be “an intimate portrayal of a mother’s two-year struggle to rescue her daughter” and follows what turned out to be a daring escape.
