Factory appoints former Discovery exec

UK-based sports and lifestyle producer Factory Media has hired a former executive producer at Discovery Channel to oversee its content on both traditional and digital platforms.

Dee Smith joins Factory in the new role of director of content having produced more than 250 hours of factual and factual entertainment shows during four years at Discovery between 2003 and 2007.

The exec is also the co-founder and former director of production at Bullseye TV, which was acquired by Zodiak Television in 2007, and more recently co-founded web video start-up iMama.tv.

Smith will now create and acquire content for Factory’s audiences online, while working on ideas for UK and international broadcasters and brands, and developing the company’s own lifestyle, sports and culture multi-channel network.
