Facebook preps Elizabeth Olsen series

Facebook has made a straight-to-series order for a new dramedy from Hollywood actress Elizabeth Olsen.

Widow (working title, 10×30′) will star and be executive produced by Olsen (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Wind River) for Facebook Watch and was written by Kit Steinkellner.

Lizzy Weiss is on board as showrunner and James Ponsoldt will executive produce and direct multiple episodes, including the pilot.

The show is being produced by Big Breach TV and Brillstein Entertainment Partners. Other executive producers include Robin Schwartz, Marc Turtletaub and Peter Saraf for Big Beach, plus Cynthia Pett, Brad Petrigala, and Jon Liebman for Brillstein.

The programme marks another addition to Facebook Watch’s burgeoning content slate, which has been ramped up this year.

In January, the social media giant unveiled a raft of orders including a Jada Pinkett Smith talker, a pregnancy show from Courtney Cox and a programme fronted by NFL star Von Miller.

It also announced a raft of series at Natpe in Miami last month, including a show starring adventurer Bear Grylls.
