Euro, Lat Am channels take a Picnic

Broadcasters in Europe and South America have acquired preschool series Picnic With Cake (13×5′, 1×26′), a coproduction between studios in the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain.

RTS in Slovenia, RUV in Iceland, YLE in Finland and Zoomoo in Brazil have acquired the show, an adaptation of the picture book by Thé Tjong-Khing, from Paris-based distributor Superights.

The toon follows a group of animals as they search for their stolen cakes and was produced by Amsterdam-based Submarine Productions, Walking the Dog in Brussels and Tomavistas in Barcelona.

It has previously been sold to KRO in the Netherlands, Belgium’s VRT, TV3 in Catalunya, ERR in Estonia, Norway’s TV2, SVT in Sweden and DR in Denmark.

Superights, a joint venture between Axone Invest and French prodco Superprod, launched in May 2013 with Morgann Favennec, former head of children’s programming at M6, as its deputy MD.
