Eureka Moment blasts into China

The Eureka Moment

Chinese state broadcaster CCTV has partnered with FremantleMedia China to launch a local version of Dutch format The Eureka Moment this summer.

The 11×90’ series will premiere on CCTV-1 in June during the Sunday evening primetime slot. It will be co-developed with CCTV’s wholly owned subsidiary, CCTV Creation.

Originally developed by Blue Circle for RTL4 in the Netherlands, the gameshow sees two couples testing their science knowledge and coming face-to-face with dangerous stunts and experiments as they attempt to win a luxury holiday.

“This is the first time we have placed a series into the much coveted Sunday evening primetime slot on CCTV-1 and we’re looking forward to developing our relationship further to co-develop many more FremantleMedia formats in the future,” said FremantleMedia China CEO Vivian Yin, who took on the post last October, as revealed by C21.

FremantleMedia has previously worked with CCTV on local versions of formats such as comedy series Thank God You’re Here and the talent competition Don’t Stop Me Now, which has recently been renewed for a further 52 episodes.
