Escapade finds Dark Place to Die

Fledgling Australian firm Escapade Media has signed an agreement to executive produce and distribute upcoming drama A Dark Place to Die.

Escapade Media is a newly-formed company based in Sydney specialising in film and TV financing, production and distribution.

One of its first projects will be the 6×60′ adaptation of Ed Chatterton’s international crime-thriller novel A Dark Place to Die, alongside Phillip Bowman’s Enjoy Entertainment (Mortified) and Sarah Smith’s Cornerstone Pictures (The Killing Field).

Escapade Media’s Anthony Mrsnik has come on board as executive producer and the company will hold distribution rights for the series, excluding the UK and Africa.

Natalie Lawley, MD of Escapade Media, said that the company is currently in discussions with “several” broadcasters about the series.

Bowman added: “A Dark Place to Die is a rare property as it is set between the Gold Coast and WA in Australia, and Liverpool in the UK and lends itself perfectly to a coproduction.”
