Epix loads gun doc

US pay TV network Epix has picked up a Sundance Film Festival documentary that looks at the debate surrounding gun ownership and violence in America.

Epix has taken US and Canadian rights to Under the Gun and will roll out the feature across all its platforms on May 15.

The Atlas Films project hails from Katie Couric and Stephanie Soechtig.

US studio Lionsgate will oversee the theatrical release of Under the Gun in New York and LA, as well as manage digital distribution on electronic sell-through and transactional video-on-demand platforms. The firm has also acquired Canadian rights.
