Epix app reaches Android

Epix, the joint venture US channel backed by Viacom, Lionsgate and MGM Studios, has become one of the first premium pay nets to make its OTT service available on Google’s Android TV.

The Epix app will be available to authenticated subscribers via the smart TV platform. It will allow users to view four live channels and stream thousands of titles on-demand, including movie franchises such as The Hunger Games, James Bond and Star Trek.

Original docs and music and comedy events featuring Katy Perry, Craig Ferguson and Louis CK are also available, while the app will also include ratings and recommendations.

Epix, which linked up with Dish Network’s VoD service Sling TV in February, moved into original TV production last month by ordering shows including comedy from Lionsgate and a spy thriller from Paramount.
