Canadian producer and distributor Entertainment One (eOne) has signed a multi-year first-look deal with a prodco headed by actors Emily Mortimer and Alessandro Nivola.

The partnership with King Bee Productions means eOne will serve as the studio and control worldwide distribution rights to television projects developed and produced with the prodco.

The move adds to eOne’s slate of first-look deals with the likes of Steve Buscemi, Stanley Tucci and Wren Arthur’s Olive Productions, and Brad Peyton and Jeff Fierson’s ASAP Entertainment.

Married duo Mortimer and Nivola have produced two seasons of half-hour comedy series Doll & Em, in which Mortimer stars, for Sky and HBO through King Bee.

The company now has a full slate of projects in development at various studios, and is currently in post-production on feature film To Dust starring Geza Rohrig (Son of Saul) and Matthew Broderick.

Mortimer and Nivola said in a statement: “We are thrilled to have this opportunity to work with John [Morayniss], Pancho [Mansfield] and the team at eOne. King Bee is now at a moment where we are ready to grow and eOne is the perfect partner for our slate of projects which are being developed in both the US and the UK.”

The partnership was spearheaded by eOne’s Polly Williams, VP of scripted development, and Carolyn Newman, senior VP of scripted programming.

Pancho Mansfield, eOne’s president of global scripted television programming, said: “Emily and Alessandro have distinguished themselves not only in front of the camera but also as producers of critically acclaimed and personal stories that resonate with audiences. As producers, they bring a strong sensibility that shines through in both drama and comedy.”

Mortimer has worked with a number of acclaimed directors, including Martin Scorsese, Rob Marshall, Paolo Sorrentino and Woody Allen, and will next star opposite Emily Blunt and Meryl Streep in Mary Poppins Returns.

Nivola has been nominated for a number of awards during his career. He won a SAG Award for American Hustle and was named Best Actor at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival for his performance in One Percent More Humid.
