Jamie Ormerod succeeds creative director Mather, who will depart later this year.

Mather was behind BBC1 show Pointless and had been in the role since last year having previously been joint MD of ESG-owned Remarkable Television from 2013.

Ormerod has held creative roles at the BBC and RDF and was appointed head of development at Remarkable in 2014, joining Mather at the central creative team last year.

Richard Johnston, CEO of Endemol Shine UK, said Mather had “played an invaluable role in making creativity central to everything we do. He has been behind some of our most popular shows and will leave with our heartfelt thanks and best wishes for his future endeavours.”

Johnston described Ormerod as “a passionate and innovative thinker and ideally suited to lead our central creative team.”

Mather’s next role is not yet known although he said the time felt right to take on a new challenge.

He joins a long list of execs to leave the UK-based arm of the company including former chairman Lucas Church and creative chief David Flynn.

Flynn’s exit came just months after Endemol’s merger with Shine, which saw the latter’s chief exec Alex Mahon and chief operating officer Tim Robinson exit.

Other departures from ESG’s UK companies include Colette Foster, who was joint MD at Remarkable Television, Kudos co-CEO Dan Isaacs, and Initial’s chief Nick Samwell-Smith.
