Endemol Beyond hires for Asia

Endemol Shine Group has launched a new Asian hub for its digital arm and appointed a Mindshare Singapore executive to oversee its operations.

Christopher Smith becomes head of digital and branded content at Endemol Beyond Asia, which will produce local versions of the company’s global digital formats.

It will also create original programming and bespoke branded content for the Asian market and will launch ICON, the lifestyle channel led by Michelle Phan, which launched simultaneously in the UK and US earlier this year.

Smith will be based in Singapore reporting to Fotini Paraskakis, MD for Endemol Shine Asia, and work with Georg Ramme, MD of Endemol Beyond International.

He previously led the development of Mindshare Discovery, working on branded content with MCNs across the region.

Paraskakis said Endemol Beyond Asia’s launch was “a significant move in our growth across the region.”

Endemol Beyond launched in 2013 and has local hubs in the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain as well as in Asia, Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe.

The division recently launched two new digital networks focusing on pop culture, sports and gaming. It is preparing original series across Endemol Beyond USA’s digital networks and appointed a US-based chief operating officer in March.
