Empire’s Hamri expands Fox deal

20th Century Fox Television has expanded its deal with Empire director and executive producer Sanaa Hamri.

The overall deal with 20th Century, which produces the hit drama, will see Hamri develop projects and direct pilots for the studio. She will also continue to direct Fox shows.

Jonnie Davis, president of creative affairs at 20th Century, described Hamri as a “creative force of nature, able to translate bold material seamlessly to the screen, and simply one of the most current and relevant directors working in television today.”

As well as Empire, Hamri’s credits include Shameless for Showtime and SundanceTV’s Rectify.

20th Century Fox Television has been included as part of the deal currently being thrashed out between parent Fox and Disney.
